Barnes & Noble newsstand director: print magazines are a luxury item

Samir Husni, better known as Mr. Magazine, interviews Krifka Steffey, who is director of newsstand merchandising at Barnes & Noble. When asked about the future of magazine newsstand and retail, Steffey says that magazines are becoming “more of a luxury item.” She adds, “We’ve also seen major brands come down in their frequency while seeing new titles in the bookazine format, where they don’t necessarily have a ‘next issue.’”
