Wattpad recently announced that it’s evolving its creators program, which has been limited in scale, to be open to more writers and offer equal benefits to all. Previously, Wattpad Creators had a tiered structure with varying requirements that writers had to meet to gain access to specific benefits. Now, any writer who meets the following criteria may join: (1) commit to writing 500 words per week minimum, (2) have at least one completed novel-length story of 50,000 words or more in their catalog, and (3) have at least one story in an eligible genre that has achieved a minimum number of engaged readers. While many more authors will be eligible for Wattpad Creators with the new criteria, the program remains invite-only.
Also, all writers in the program will now benefit equally from program perks, including editorial support from Wattpad’s in-house team; educational resources (videos, writing guides, and more); a Discord channel with office hours, staff AMAs, and live editorial coaching during writing sprints; and quarterly meetings where Wattpad staff share information for building a writing career on Wattpad.
