Hachette was already acting as distributor for the titles; the deal encompasses bestselling authors and brands such as Maurice Sendak and Jonathan Stroud—and also includes acquired titles that haven’t yet been published. The books will become part of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and double the size of its backlist. This is not the first sale of Disney titles to Hachette; in 2013, the publisher bought 1,000 adult titles from Disney’s Hyperion book group. Disney still retains book imprints such as Disney Hyperion, Disney Press, Disney Editions, Marvel Press, and Lucasfilm Press. Learn more.
