Circana BookScan reports that adult fiction in the US market saw its best holiday sales (for print) in five years. Overall, US print sales are just 2.6 percent behind 2022—a better finish than expected—and given book price increases, US publishers may see improved sales on a dollar basis in 2023 versus 2022. In the UK, Nielsen BookScan expects 2023 to finish a little better than 2022 on the basis of sales earnings but not unit sales.
