Jill Kemerer is a multi-published author of Christian romance novels with Harlequin Love Inspired; she’s sold over a half million books worldwide. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and has served as the president of Maumee Valley Romance Authors. A former electrical engineer, Jill now writes full-time.
The Cowboy’s Christmas Compromise is Jill’s fourth Publishers Weekly bestseller. In this first novel of the Wyoming Legacies series, recently divorced Dalton Cambridge can’t afford to turn down a ranch manager position—even if the boss is his ex-wife’s new husband’s ex-wife. After all, providing for his son is what’s important. And working for Erica Black is strictly business. But when the cowboy finds himself caring for the cattle and the single mother, will he risk everything for a holiday family he could never imagine?
When asked what contributed to the book landing on the Publishers Weekly bestseller list, Kemerer said: “Harlequin Love Inspired’s art department created a cover that appeals to my audience.… Additionally, the back cover copy revealed an intriguing story line featuring exes of exes. All of this contributed to keeping The Cowboy’s Christmas Compromise on the Publishers Weekly bestseller list.”
The novel ranked on the list four weeks in a row. Kemerer continued: “I’ve had over 20 novels published with Love Inspired, and I’m blessed to have die-hard readers. The cover, the back cover copy, the genre (in my case, inspirational romance featuring cowboys), and the seasonal element (Christmas book) all factored into the success of this book.”
In addition to providing the cover and blurb, Harlequin Love Inspired promotes its books to an established and engaged following across its social media platform. Kemerer also took steps to promote the novel across her own platform, including Facebook (2.4K), Pinterest (1.3K), Instagram (2.2K), and her newsletter. She blogs about her book announcements and publishes additional short story extras for her readers on her website. Additionally, when The Cowboy’s Christmas Compromise released, she secured an interview on a local news station.
Kemerer advised other authors, “We never really know if our book will sell well or not, so celebrate each release. You worked hard on the book. Savor the accomplishment!”
