- After last year’s acquisition of Harlequin, News Corp is seeking additional opportunities to acquire publishing companies. They see the potential for more profit due to strong ebook sales across global territories. You can read more in the Australian (subscription required).
- Perseus Books Group (PBG), which distributes more than 600 small and independent presses, is seeking a buyer. They’re also the parent company of imprints such as Basic Books, Running Press, Da Capo, Seal Press, and Avalon. While it’s supposed to be “business as usual” as PBG explores a potential sale (financially, the company is doing well), we wouldn’t be surprised if a few of the publishers being distributed started looking for another home, such as Ingram.
