We’ve all heard how much the traditional book publishing industry has changed. Whether you’re a new author, or a veteran, in this ever-changing industry, how do you position your book and yourself for success?

We all have those favorite authors we know and love, so how do we become that for our readers? They have brand recognition: we know who they are, what to expect, and why we adore them. You can create this too, for yourself.

Author brand strategy is the key to unlocking a major shift in publishing and yet it’s only recently hit collective consciousness. Andrea is on a mission to change that. There are a lot of misconceptions and myths around what “branding” truly is. For instance, no you don’t need to become some fake version of yourself to have a brand. This class not only demystifies author branding, but gives you practical, boots on the ground advice on how to leverage your author brand at each step of the publishing journey.

We’ll break down how you can leverage your author brand, from pitching to editing, from cover design to marketing plans and beyond, and set a new precedent in understanding how much power you can truly have as an author.

Whether you’ve had a book launch that didn’t go as well as you’d have liked, or you’re getting ready to publish your first book, this webinar will shift your perspective for what’s possible and give you powerful tools to succeed.

By adopting an author-centric perspective and strategy, you’ll learn not only how to improve your chances for success, feel more confident, but also enjoy the experience of book publication more. And you’ll also learn how it’s in the publisher’s best interest too.

In this class, we’ll cover the bird’s eye view of the current state of publishing, what to expect from your publisher, and how to encourage them to increase their support of your efforts. You’ll learn how to articulate your value more effectively, protect your creative vision, and give your book and yourself the best chance at success, no matter where you are in the publishing cycle.

In this 90-minute class, you’ll:

  • Get a brief overview of the current state of publishing and what to expect from your publisher’s marketing team.
  • Learn what an author brand actually is & why it matters. (Hint: you don’t have to become something you’re not!)
  • Learn how each stage of the publishing process presents new opportunities to leverage your author brand, from: working on your manuscript to book launch, and beyond.
  • Expand your perception of the market.
  • Rethink what’s possible for you and your book(s).
  • Come away with many actionable ideas for what to do next.

After class, you’ll receive worksheets with guidance for each step of the publishing process.

Who should take this class

This class is for authors at a variety of stages, including:

  • Authors who would like to have better results than their previous book launch(es) did
  • Authors who’ve published before and want to recalibrate their approach for their next book
  • Authors who just signed their first book deal (or their tenth) and want to prepare for their best book launch
  • Writers preparing to query agents or who are about to go out on submission

This class is not suited for

  • Writers who only want to focus on writing the book(s) and want someone else to handle all the marketing, branding, publicity for them, or who are not ready to even think about “all of that”
  • Writers who aren’t sure what they’re writing yet

Testimonials

Andrea opened up opportunities I didn’t know existed for sharing my books without losing my soul. I refer back to her wisdom whenever possible. She is the rare marketing expert who understands that creatives aren’t in this business to push product at all costs, that the work itself is what matters most, both to you and your readers. Working with her let me keep my integrity and find new places to grow.

Kelly Harms, bestselling author

Leigh Stein, author and cultural critic

Andrea Guevara has been a genius at helping me–a first time author–create a branding strategy. She showed me how to enhance my value as an author and highlighted what made me and my book unique, and she’s even given me a bigger vision of my future as a writer. Andrea worked seamlessly with me, my book coach, my agent, and my publisher to make sure everything worked together for the launch of my debut memoir, The Farmer’s Lawyer
